Samantha provides leadership and direction for implementing SCORE’s postsecondary strategy, ensuring alignment across SCORE’s advocacy, policy, and research activities, and supporting coordination across K-12 and postsecondary education. Before joining SCORE in 2018, Sam served as education policy adviser for Governor Bill Haslam. In 2017, she led the legislative effort to enact the Tennessee Reconnect Act, which allows nearly all Tennessee adults to attend a community or technical college tuition-free. She previously served as a program analyst at the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and an elementary school teacher in Metro Nashville Public Schools through Teach For America. Originally from Alabama, Sam has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Auburn University and a master’s degree in education from Vanderbilt University.
