After more than 2,000 votes in a Facebook poll, we have our finalists in the Students Rise to the Challenge scholarship competition.

Congratulations to Ethan Swift, Lamar Elementary (Washington County Schools), and Katie Workman, Foothills Elementary (Maryville City Schools), in the elementary school category; Vincent Gould, Robinson Middle School (Kingsport City Schools), and Harleigh O’Brien, Montgomery Central Middle School (Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools), in the middle school category; and Spencer Beckman, Central Magnet School (Rutherford County Schools),  and Lorna Treffert, L&N STEM Academy (Knox County Schools) in the high school category. Come to the SCORE Prize event on October 27 to see which three students win a $250 scholarship.

The SCORE Prize event, which recognizes the schools and school districts in Tennessee that are leaders in student learning, also will announce the elementary, middle, and high schools that are the winners of $10,000 prizes and the district that is the winner of a $25,000 prize. The event will include a special performance by country music artist Dustin Lynch and is free of charge.
