Dr. Katie Cahill

Assistant Dean of Partnerships & Economic Development for the College of Emerging & Collaborative Studies and Director of Workforce Development for the Office of Research, Innovation & Economic Development, University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Known for building and scaling initiatives in environments where the path forward is not fully defined, Dr. Cahill has contributed to the establishment of multiple institutions in higher education, including the Policy Research Institute and the Institute for Civic Communication at Purdue University, as well as the Institute for American Civics and the Howard H. Baker Jr. School of Public Policy and Public Affairs at the University of Tennessee. Cahill was named Collaborator of the Year by the Institute for Public Service for her leadership on the Tennessee Legislative Leaders Academy, which provides leadership training to newly elected members of the Tennessee General Assembly. For the past seven years, she has designed and delivered the curriculum for the Appalachian Leadership Institute. As a SCORE Future Forward Innovation Grant fellow, Cahill is helping create data science and AI-related education programs designed to prepare K-12 students in Tennessee for the future of work. She holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University.
