Dr. Russ Deaton

Executive Vice Chancellor for Policy & Strategy, Tennessee Board of Regents-The College System of Tennessee

Dr. Deaton provides leadership to the TBR offices of Academic Affairs, Student Success, Strategic Enrollment Management, and Research and Data. Before joining The College System of Tennessee, he worked at the Tennessee Higher Education Commission in a variety of roles, including chief financial officer, chief policy officer, and deputy executive director. Deaton received a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt, where he has served as an adjunct faculty member since 2007. Over the years, he has taught courses in higher education finance policy and policy economics. In 2014, Deaton was named Peabody College Adjunct Faculty of the Year.
