The Rural Education Network brings together education leaders committed to improving public education in rural communities. Challenges facing rural schools are distinct. College-going and competion rates are lower. Teacher pipeline obstacles are magnified, and rural educators are often geographically isolated with fewer opportunities for collaboration. These challenges and others are addressed each day by rural schools, many of which have deployed some of the state’s most innovated practices.
SCORE’s Rural Education network helps identify and share best practices in rural education. The network also provides SCORE with policy direction on rural education issues.
The Network’s report, Transforming the Rural South: A Roadmap to Improving Rural Education, identifies 34 specific recommendations to improve rural education. An important priority for the Network will be sharing their work that is aligned with this report to a broad group of rural educators.
