The annual release of the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) results can help educators, policymakers, and communities better understand where students are making progress and where additional support and focus are needed most. Our interactive data explorer helps you analyze student achievement trends across Tennessee using publicly available assessment data released by the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE).

How to Use the Dashboard

Use the filters at the top of each dashboard tab to customize the data by subject, grade level, and student group. You can select a combination of filters to customize your view of outcomes. Hover over any district to view historical outcomes for your selected filters and compare results across years. If a chart appears blank for a district, it means the data have been suppressed by TDOE and are not publicly available.

The group performance tab allows users to compare student groups using TDOE’s reporting categories, including comparisons such as:

  • Black, Hispanic, and Native American (BHN) students and non-BHN students
  • Economically disadvantaged (ED) students and non-ED students
  • Other student groups reported by TDOE

More Data Coming Soon

You’ll notice a grayed-out “School Level” section within the dashboard that is currently unavailable. We expect school-level results to be released later this summer. Once those data become available, we will update the dashboard to include school-level results and additional analysis to help users better understand schools’ performance across Tennessee.
