This SCORE Institute on Unlocking Opportunity With Nondegree Credentials brought together national and state experts to discuss the increasing opportunity that nondegree credentials offer to prepare Tennesseans for high-demand, high-wage jobs. We also explored the steps to ensure Tennessee's approach to nondegree credentials helps us meet state workforce and economic development goals.
Key points of the convening:
- Discover what we do and don’t know about Tennessee’s nondegree options and their connection to economic opportunity for the state as a whole and for individuals.
- Identify the next steps for policymakers, educators, and business leaders to support students in their pursuit of nondegree credentials throughout Tennessee — including a better understanding of the range of nondegree credential options and how to prioritize those with the most impact.
- Discuss ways to clearly communicate the value of nondegree credentials to our state and to our students, employees, and employers. We need to ensure there is data available so students can make informed decisions about nondegree credentials that fuel their future.
