The Learning Professional journal has published a report about early literacy work in Tennessee written by SCORE Chief K-12 Impact Officer Dr. Sharon Roberts.

The Learning Professional is the journal of Learning Forward, a professional association devoted exclusively to those who work in educator professional development. The Tennessee literacy article explains how the Leading Innovation for Tennessee Education (LIFT) network four years ago began to focus collectively on improving student literacy outcomes by implementing high-quality instructional materials supported by aligned professional learning for teachers and school and district leaders.

Roberts writes:

“This collaborative effort has illuminated the early literacy challenges that nearly all schools face in boosting reading and writing, but it has also shown that working on a common problem of practice with high-quality materials and support works, and it has provided a model for other districts.”
