SCORE’s annual State Of Education In Tennessee report monitors the state’s progress in improving student outcomes, delineates work that has contributed to achievement gains, and provides recommendations to the state to ensure we continue to prepare all students for success in college and  career. The comprehensive report is grounded in extensive research and feedback from educators, higher education faculty, the Tennessee Department of Education, the State Board of Education, the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, business and philanthropic partners, and other stakeholders.

2021 State Of Education In Tennessee

“Because we as a state are not yet preparing all students for college and career success, our goals must be aggressive: doubling third-graders reading on grade level, doubling the community college completion rate for Black and Latino students, and doubling recent high school graduates who earn associate degrees in three years or bachelor’s degrees in six years by the end of the decade. Tennessee must dream big for our students.”

– Senator Bill Frist and David Mansouri
